John Savage Denton

John Savage Denton, Lā€™1895, (November 30, 1865 ā€“ ?) was a lawyer and Vice-President and General Manager of the Southern Lumber and Manufacturing Company based in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born in Cookeville, Tennessee, he began practicing law in 1885. In 1893, he came to Washington, D.C. to serve in the office of the auditor of the United States Treasury Department. Taking classes in the Georgetown University School of Law while working for the Treasury Department, he graduated in 1895. 1After resigning his position in 1901, he returned to Tennessee to take up the position of secretary to Governor Benton McMillin. He served as a member of the Tennessee State Board of Prison Commissioners between 1902 and 1904 before joining the Southern Lumber and Manufacturing Company.
