LXR Hall

LXR Hall is an upper class residence hall located on 35th Street NW between N Street and Prospect Street. The hall consists of three buildings that were connected during a 1994 renovation.

Student housing renovations

In 1994, the University renovated Loyola, Xavier, and Ryder for a total of $12.5 million. The three buildings received new plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical systems in addition to an interior reconfiguration that increased the number of beds from 90 to 280. Connecting bridges were built between the three buildings to create a single six floor dorm spanning 85,777 square feet, which was renamed LXR.1

Further renovations

In 2000, LXR received two of the University’s first six 24 hour constantly recording security cameras. One was placed at the 35th Street entrance, the other at the entrance to Loyola Hall. 2In the summer of 2004, LXR received a new roof. 3In 2013, when the Riverside Lounge in New South closed for the construction of the Healey Family Student Center, the LXR Multipurpose Room housed the fencing team, club triathlon, dance groups, and other organizations during their weekly practices.4
