History
The Nevils Building is an apartment-style complex spanning 69,855 square feet located on East Campus. In 1957, the University consolidated units of the Old Georgetown University Hospital, a building at the corner of 35th & N Streets, the Original Hospital, Lisner, Riggs, the Original School of Nursing, Kober-Leclerc, and Jung. This consolidated building was named after W. Coleman Nevils S.J., President of Georgetown University from 1926-35.
After this consolidation and renaming, Nevils served as offices and classrooms for the Graduate School, Summer, Continuing Education, the Business School, and the Institute of Languages and Linguistics. In 1983, Nevils underwent an extensive renovation which included replacing infrastructure systems, adding new windows, repairing the brick exterior, and providing handicapped accessibility and security in order to convert the building to student dorms.
