Basic Science is a building on Georgetown University's Medical Campus located at 3900 Reservoir Road NW. Construction began on September 11, 1967 and was completed March 29, 1972. Designed by the architecture firm Ellerbe & Mariani, it comprises 55,719 square feet. It was built at a cost of $7, 377, 084, including the cost of the Dahlgren Medical Library and Preclinical Science.
The current Reiss Science building was previously known as Basic Science. When that building was converted into a classroom building, the modern Basic Science Building was built to assume its former functions and now operates as a medical research laboratory and office building.1
As of 2021, the Basic Science Building housed offices and labs of the following departments: Physiology and Biophysics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Pathology.2
