The South Asian Society, often known as SAS, is a student organization that aims "to raise awareness and understanding of South Asian culture"1.
Offerings
SAS hosts a range of events. Past events include a panel discussion with comedian Hasan Minhaj moderated by past SAS presidents2 and a 2020 charitable performance highlighted by Penn Masala, the first South Asian a cappella group at an American university, and various GW and Georgetown student dance groups3.
SAS helps organize Rangila, Georgetown's annual South Asian dance showcase. First held in 1995, Rangila has become a Georgetown tradition and is typically held every fall in Gaston Hall.
