Asian American Student Association (AASA)

The Asian American Student Association, often known as AASA, is a student organization for Georgetown's Asian American community. Through its activities, AASA aims to raise cultural awareness and engage in community-building1

Offerings

AASA conducts a wide range of programming for members and engages with the broader Georgetown and DC community. The club hosts various social events for members and has also organized several notable fundraisers for Asian American organizations. A March 2022 partnership with The Corp helped raise funds for AQUA DC, an organization that supports LGBTQ members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community2. AASA partnered with Georgetown Running Club that same year to support several Asian American youth organizations3.

AASA hosts an annual cultural fashion show, called Runway ASIA, first held in 20224. In an opportunity to celebrate and highlight Asian identities, models in the show wear cultural clothing and explain the clothing's significance to audience members5. The 2022 event served as a fundraiser for A/PI DRVP, an organization that supports Asian and Pacific Islander survivors of abuse6; the 2023 event raised funds for earthquake relief in Turkey and Syria7.
