David Cicilline

David Cicilline (L 1986) is an alumnus of Georgetown University Law School, a lawyer, and politician. A Democrat, he served as the United States Representative for Rhode Island's 1st District from 2011-2023. He was the first openly gay Georgetown alum to serve in Congress.1

In 2011, Cicilline was keynote speaker at the third annual Lavender Graduation at Georgetown, honoring LGBTQ graduates.2

In February 2023, Cicilline announced his intention to resign from Congress in May 2023 to serve as President and CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation3.
