George Peter (September 28, 1779 – June 22, 1861) attended Georgetown College in the 1790s, was a member of Congress, and was Georgetown’s first veteran. 

Edward Douglass White, Jr. (November 3, 1845 – May 19, 1921) was an alumnus of Georgetown College, a lawyer, politician, and judge.

William Gaston (1778 - 1844)  was Georgetown College's first student. He went on to be come a lawyer, politician, and judge. He entered Georgetown on November 10, 1791 but left in the spring of 1793 due to poor health. After recovering at home he eventually graduated from Princeton University in 1796.

William D. Merrick was a student of Georgetown College, a lawyer, politician, and judge. He entered Georgetown College in 1809 but left without graduating. Nevertheless he was listed as an honorary member of the Philodemic Society when it was founded in 1830.

Xochitl Torres Small (SFS 2007) is a Georgetown alumna, lawyer, and politician. A Democrat, she served as the United States Representative for New Mexico's 2nd District from 2019-2021. She currently serves as the Under Secretary for Rural Development within the United States Department of Agriculture

Pramila Jayapal (C 1986) is an alumna of Georgetown University and a politician. A Democrat, she currently serves as the United States Representative for Washington's 7th District.

David Cicilline (L 1986) is an alumnus of Georgetown University Law School, a lawyer, and politician. A Democrat, he served as the United States Representative for Rhode Island's 1st District from 2011-2023. He was the first openly gay Georgetown alum to serve in Congress.

Hakeem Jeffries (MPP 1994) is an alumnus of Georgetown University, a lawyer, and politician. A Democrat, he currently serves as the United States Representative for New York's 8th District and as the House Minority Leader.
